Gender mainstreaming in teaching

The institute's project on gender mainstreaming in teaching was started in 2008 to integrate gender issues into the regular HWR Berlin curriculum.

Working together with teachers and the project group, selected academic fields were examined and potential gender issues to teach on were suggested. Teachers were encouraged to invite academic and business experts to hold guest lectures in their classes (e.g. on gender budgeting, administration). Interested scholars participated in various workshops and a final symposium on gender mainstreaming in teaching at the HTMI.

In January 2016, the institute published a discussion paper on "Part of the mainstream? Gender in academia (in German)" by Christiane Krämer discussing the project's results. A summary of the workshop "Part of the mainstream?" (2011) is available here.
