Academic and Professional Background

Antje Mertens has been a Professor of Economics at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, Faculty II, since 2005, where she currently is dean of studies. She studied at the Technical University, Berlin, and the University of Sussex, England and holds a M.A. in International Economics. From 1993 to 1998 she was a research assistant at Humboldt University, Berlin, where she was awarded her doctoral degree in 1998 and her "Habilitation" in 2009. Between 1998 and 2005 she was a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development. Her research centers around atypical employment, labor mobility and training.
